What You Need to Know about AgeTech
My conversation with Cathy Minter.
What do you know about aging technology?
I’m not talking about rotary dial phones, VCRs, or using paper road maps.
I’m talking about AgeTech — technology that can help you manage life with older parents by helping mom and dad stay connected, safe, and live independently.
Things like smart speakers, wearables, fall detection sensors, and medication dispensers. Apps for on-demand transportation and companion care. Smart home systems. And AI chatbots and companion robots.
AgeTech is changing the way we care for our aging parents. Which is great if you’re a digital native or someone who manages life from their iPhone.
But not so great if being tech-savvy isn’t in your zone of genius. Maybe you’re someone who uses GPS but still keeps road maps in the trunk. Just in case. Someone, for example, like me.
Here’s what I can tell you: I feel a lot better about AgeTech after speaking with Cathy Minter.
Cathy is the cofounder and CEO of Wisdom, a smart home technology company she launched during her own caregiving journey. We covered a lot of ground:
- How Cathy’s caregiving experience led her to focus on AgeTech
- The forces driving the explosive growth in AgeTech solutions
- How to use AgeTech as part of an aging in place strategy
- Common challenges and concerns
- How to start talking about AgeTech with your parents
AgeTech is here to stay. So the more you know, the better you’ll be able to make informed choices about when and how to use it.
My conversation with Cathy Minter is a great place to start.
